Cases of animal abuse

A Titusville man's dog was shot on Wednesday evening and state police in Corry are asking for the public's help in solving the case.

According to police, someone shot a 16-month-old boxer mix owned by Donald Rulin Kerr, 69, of Thompson Run Road.

The shooting occurred Wednesday, around 5 p.m. Kerr's dog was shot with a small caliber firearm while it was on the road in front of Kerr's home.

The bullet hit the dog's right front shoulder, coming out the other side, but it missed vital organs, according to a family member.

A dog was found shot through the chest with an arrow on pueblo land north of Española on Friday morning and died later on the operating table.

Okhay Owingeh police are investigating but had no leads by late in the day. "It's really an unfortunate thing," said Police Chief Donovan Trujillo. "I don't recall ever having a case like this."

Tula, a 3-year-old border collie, was brought to the Española Valley animal shelter by Paul Pedrazza, whose girlfriend owned the dog, about 8:30 a.m. The arrow protruded from either side of the dog's body.
